ENVIRONMENT and ecology has become the ninth major of Shenzhen University (SZU) that has been listed on top 1 percent of Essential Science Indicators (ESI), according to the updated data of ESI released by Clarivate Analytics.
According to ESI, SZU’s environment and ecology department has published 531 papers in WOS-indexed journals from Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2020, including 10 highly cited papers and one hot paper. These papers were cited for 4,503 times. It is reported that there are a total of 1,258 institutions in the world having the environment and ecology listed on ESI top 1 percent. SZU’s environment and ecology major is ranked 1,251th.
The rest eight disciplines of SZU that have been listed on the top 1 percent of ESI are engineering, clinical medicine, materials science, biology and biochemistry, computer science, chemistry, physics and social science. Among them, three disciplines, specifically engineering, computer science and materials science, have been included in ESI top 0.3 percent.
The number of highly cited papers published by SZU has grown nearly eight times since 2015, ranking SZU the 36th among universities on the Chinese mainland. ESI is reported to be a unique compilation of performance statistics and trends extrapolated from counts of articles published in scholarly journals and the citations to those articles.
